Our adventure in the Azores

Welcome to the Wild, Raw Azores Islands. I am releasing a series of vlogs from The Azores in the next few weeks. You can look forward to an in-depth report of our adventures. My name is Kristýna, I was born in the Czech Republic in a city called Brno. This is where I spent my childhood and adolescence. I have always dreamed of exploring the world and finding new opportunities. At just 23 years old, I decided to take a big step and move to Australia. This decisive step changed my life forever.

Recently, I went on an amazing trip to Europe with my fiance Mike. Our adventure took us to the volcanic Azores, where we spent three unforgettable weeks. I want to share our experiences from our first day in this magical place.

Discovering Ponta Delgada

On the first day, we decided to explore the largest and capital city of the Azores, Ponta Delgada. Our adventure started in our cozy Airbnb, which could not provide us with a scooter, so we set out to discover the city on foot. Along the way, we saw many water activities, such as swimming with dolphins or whale watching.

The city captivated us with its architecture and friendly atmosphere. The streets were full of cafes, shops, and locals. We visited a very interesting place, a pineapple plantation. In the outdoor garden, we also tasted specialties made from local pineapples. It was fascinating to see how this exotic fruit is grown in such specific conditions.

During our journey, we also discovered a place where a scene from the Turn of the Tide series was filmed. It was interesting to see this place live, which appeared in the series of the series on Netflix.

Beautiful city gardens

We also visited several city gardens, which provided us with a refuge from the hustle and bustle of the city. First on our list was Jardin Botânico José do Canto, which enchanted us with its rich flora and quiet corners. A walk among exotic plants and flowering trees was a balm for the soul.

Jardin Botânico José do Canto Then we headed to Jardim Botânico António Borges, where we discovered even more beautiful nature. This garden was full of mature trees, mysterious paths, and hidden lakes. It was like entering another world where we could get lost and relax.

At the end of the day, we decided to explore the city in the dark. Ponta Delgada also has its charm at night, when the streets light up and the city comes alive in a different way. We ended our evening adventure at a luxury restaurant called KOI. This restaurant enchanted us with its atmosphere, delicious dishes and great service. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy a great dinner after a long day of exploring.

The first day in the Azores was amazing and we were looking forward to the next days full of adventures and beautiful experiences.

Ponta Delgada showed us its hospitality and beauty and we enjoyed every moment spent in this magical city.
