Day Five on the Azores: A Final Exploration of Sao Miguel’s Natural Wonders

Hello everyone! My name is Christine Nobles, and along with my boyfriend Mike, we’re on an unforgettable journey through the Azores. Today, I’d like to share the story of our fifth and final day on the island of Sao Miguel. We decided to make the most of it by exploring some of the most beautiful places this island has to offer.

Ribeira dos Caldeirões

Our adventure began with a visit to the breathtaking Ribeira dos Caldeirões waterfall, surrounded by lush green scenery. This park is a true paradise for nature lovers. From the very first moment, we were captivated by the serene atmosphere, where the sounds of flowing water mingled with the songs of birds. A walk through the park offered us not only amazing views but also moments of pure relaxation that filled our hearts.

A Giant Burger for Hungry Travelers

After our nature walk, we started to feel hungry, so we decided to stop for a bite to eat. We found a place where we enjoyed possibly the biggest burger of our lives! It was a true feast and the perfect way to recharge for our next adventure.

The Experience at Ponta do Arnel Lighthouse

Our next stop took us to Ponta do Arnel lighthouse, a location we recognized from the series Turn of the Tide. It was incredible to see this place with our own eyes and soak in its atmosphere. The views from this spot were absolutely stunning, once again reminding us of the beauty and diversity of the Azores.

Da Ponta do Sossego and Da Ponta do Madrugada Lookouts

Next on our list were the Da Ponta do Sossego and Da Ponta do Madrugada lookouts. Both offer magnificent views of the expansive nature and sparkling blue sea. The Da Ponta do Sossego lookout also features a lovely park with exotic flowers and barbecue spots, where we spent some time relaxing. From there, we moved on to the Da Ponta do Madrugada lookout, which was equally beautiful and left a strong impression on us.

Spontaneous Adventures and Discovering Furnas Volcano Caldera

The rest of the day was spent completely spontaneously. Our journey led us to the Furnas Volcano Caldera, a geological wonder filled with boiling water. It was fascinating to witness this natural phenomenon up close and experience something so unique.

Final Surprise: Livestock Parade

Just when we thought nothing could surprise us, we stumbled upon a livestock parade, giving us a glimpse into the rich local traditions and culture. It was an unexpected but beautiful way to end our day.

Ending the Day and Saying Goodbye to Sao Miguel

This fifth day was full of incredible experiences and spontaneous discoveries. The Azores have offered us so much natural beauty and unique moments that it will be hard to say goodbye. We hope to return one day and relive this wonderful part of the world.

Thank you for sharing in our adventure, and we look forward to bringing you more travel stories soon!
